Grassroots Grants
Grassroots grants is a £130m nationwide initiative to support activities at the heart of local communities.
York & North Yorkshire Community Foundation are delivering the small grants programme in York and the East Riding of Yorkshire. In North Yorkshire we are working in partnership with the Yorkshire Dales Millenium Trust
Grassroots Grants
Who can apply?
Not for profit, voluntary or community groups who:
- have been in existence & active in the community for a year or more
- have an income of less £30,000 per year, averaged over 3 years.
- work for the benefit of their local community
- are led by volunteers
- have a written set of rules or constitution
Size of Grant
Grants of between £250 and £5000 are available. Groups can apply more than once but can only receive a maximum of £5000 over the lifetime of the programme. As 2010/11 is the final year of Grassroots all groups must ensure they can complete their project and return the End of Grant report by 31st March 2011.
What can be funded ?
The grants are intended to benefit the community so may cover a wide range of projects. For example purchase of equipment such as computers or kitchen facilities, a local community event, training & staffing costs, community activities. The project may be a new project or may expand on an existing funded project. Applications for large items of equipment (£1000 or over) are welcomed. Grassroots funding for North Yorkshire and East Yorkshire has now closed.
Since the Grassroots programme for 2010/11 reopened in March 2010 we have been inundated with applications. Due to the overwhelming success of Grassroots grants in North Yorkshire and East Yorkshire the decision to close the application process (as previously advertised) on Friday 16th April 2010 has been confirmed. We are therefore not accepting any further applications from North Yorkshire and East Yorkshire.

We would urge any interested groups in York to complete their online application forms as soon as possible as 2010/11 is the final year of Grassroots funding and all projects must be complete by 31st March 2011. For details of how to apply please see below.

Grassroots for East Yorkshire has now closed for new applications. If further funding becomes available details will be announced on the website. |
